Every year, new flavors rise on social media. Most fade quickly… but some become something bigger. Dubai Chocolate is one of them. When I first saw the hype, I assumed it would be temporary. But in October, during my trip to South Korea, I kept seeing Dubai Chocolate desserts everywhere, and that’s when I realized: This flavor has gone global.
Today, information travels at lightning speed. What once took years now spreads across continents in months, thanks to social media and how openly people share what they love.
So when heritage brands like Hershey’s and Lindt launched their own Dubai Chocolate products, it became clear to me that this is no longer a trend. It’s a staple.
But Seidy, what makes a trend become a staple? I think it's when it crosses borders, enters mainstream brands, and keeps showing up in people’s purchasing habits. Dubai Chocolate hasn't left anywhere in more than 3 years. If anything, more brands continue to include it on their flavor options, think ice cream, chocolates, cakes, cookies...
It’s Never Too Late to Join a Trend If You Make It Yours
When I launched Crème Bakery’s Dubai Chocolate Cookie in July 2024, many customers had never heard of the flavor. My first batch took over a month to sell out. It was just way too recent. My algorithm got it shown to me because of my trade, I mean, this IS what I do for work.
But some trends don’t disappear; they just reach people at different times. Trusting that, I released Dubai Chocolate 2.0 earlier this year: richer texture, more filling, milk chocolate, and my own interpretation of the flavor.
What happened surprised me a little bit: customers buying three or four at a time, for themselves or as a premium, thoughtful gift to someone they care about.
And this week, we introduced the Dubai Chocolate Crookie (a croissant baked with cookie dough — one of 2024’s biggest pastry trends). Combining these two global trends into one dessert and seeing the response made it clear that these aren’t temporary flavors anymore. They’re becoming part of our line-up, too!
What did I learn? It’s never too late to bring a trend into your market, as long as you bring your creativity with it. Adapt it, make a twist, and build it into your offerings.
The Global "Flavor Market" Isn’t Slowing Down
Flavors now travel faster than ever, and the opportunity lies in how you interpret them.
Dubai Chocolate is here to stay, and brands everywhere are proving it. Innovation isn’t always about being first. Sometimes it’s about being thoughtful, intentional, and original with what already captures the world’s attention. You don't need to make up a new demand; you just need to ride an existing one and present it to the right crowd.
So the next time you spot a trend, don’t let it pass by. Evergreen flavors will always be a staple, but trends — hype or not — are what keep you relevant in a market oversaturated with options. The key is to take what’s exciting, add your own creativity, and make it yours. After all, you never know which trend will become a lasting favorite, just like Dubai Chocolate.
